Commercial Range Hoods

Commercial range hoods or "commercial kitchen hoods" are designed for kitchens in businesses or even in residences with very large kitchens.

Commercial range hoods come in a wide variety of shapes, prices and levels of power, suited to the needs of your business.
Commercial-style range hoods resemble the style of commercial range hoods, but are intended for private kitchen use. Several different models have been hand-selected here for your convenience, offering a wide variety of qualities depending on their intended uses.

Commercial Hoods

Fully commercial hoods are designed for use in commercial kitchens. Unlike standard island hoods, they are not necessarily located in a single, central place. Rather, commercial kitchens often use a large number of different hoods for their different needs. This wide variety of needs is reflected in a wide variety of design. One common design is the modular kitchen hood. Rather than duct each hood directly, the various hoods will use a common duct system with a single or small number of outlets. These systems are usually designed to fit together, one to another, leading to that single duct. In other cases, a duct system is placed above all of the ranges, so that the smoke from all of them is channeled away. In these cases, modular designs are not so necessary.

Filtering

Because commercial hoods deal with such a large amount of smoke and grease, the most common sort of filter for them is what is called a “baffle filter”. These systems capture the grease and siphon it off into a container where it is drained away. As one might expect, such a system, while very powerful, requires maintenance and cleaning. However, with modular hoods, often the baffle filters can be joined together in such a way that they draw off grease together.

Commercial-Style Range Hoods

Often one will find what are called “commercial-style range hoods”, rather than simply “commercial range hoods”. What this represents are very powerful range hoods designed to bring powerful air clearing to a private home. For serious cooks, such a range hood might well be worth the investment, as these hoods will have very high rates of cleaning, often as high as 1200 cubic feet per minute. The name of these hoods is a little deceptive – they don’t just have the “style” of commercial hoods. Note that any commercial-style range hood will be ducted, rather than ducted. If you do convert one of these hoods to ductless, you’ll be losing all of the extra power that was the purpose of having one in the first place.

Commercial range hoods come in a number of styles to suit people’s needs. Sometimes they are custom-made, while at other times, their modularity allows them to be arranged in whatever way is necessary for your business.
